News Summary: President Zardari in a recent visit (May 2009) to Washington DC boasted that Pakistani army strength is 700,000. Pakistan has deployed 110,000 troops to counter insurgency (COIN) operations on its western border. A ratio of 7 to 10 troops per insurgent suggests that Pakistan estimates strength of Taliban and al Qaeda guided insurgent force to be in a range of 11,000 to 16,000. The chinese have bought this so-called Sino-US tie. Nothing to be at a loss about. US always sided with Pakistan, now they have new ties with China. Should we be concerned? It seems not, given the silence of the Congress govt.
