Americans do not care much for Muslim states, except in cases where they think that democracy may have a chance. Kosovo Muslims were hated by the Serbian orthdox christians, and there was practically no chance of them co-existing for a long time. But the situation is different in Kashmir. Nevertheless, if the Kashmiri Muslims can claim that they have a democratic tradition, Americans might be inclined to listen to them. Kashmiri Muslim leaders are neither democratic nor peace-loving and they are pushing hard to Talibanize Kashmir. As long as Americans recognize that, they will stay out of Kashmir.
7	S.Ghatak on Friday, March 21, 2008 : Mohan: the issue is highly relevant. I post below some recent events not published in the Secular newspapers of India with a Muslim vice president. According to Tanjug, protesters originating from India"s Kashmir region demonstrated outside the headquarters of the European Commission (EC) and the European Union (EU) Council in Brussels on Tuesday 18th March, demanding that the Kosovo precedent be applied on Kashmir and that this region be given the right to unilateral secession from India. The protesters chanted slogans stating that if Kosovo can, why not Kashmir as well. Ali Raza Syed, president of the Brussels-based Kashmir Center which organized the protest, said they had come to remind officials of European institutions and the international community that Kashmir, like Kosovo, has the right to self-determination. They have been fighting for independence from India for sixty years, but to no avail, he said. Their struggle evidently is of no interest to the media, but they deal with the subject of Kosovo, Syed said, asking why Kashmir cannot be independent like Serbian province of Kosovo-Metohia was allowed to secede, despite the opposition of the Serbian state representatives. India is opposed to the amputation of southern Serbian province, among other things, because its representatives are aware that legitimizing such unilateral move aimed at imposed dismemberment of UN member states sets a precedent for the case of Kashmir.
6	Fin on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 : Repeal Article 370 and allow all Indians to settle in the Indian State of Jammu & Kashmir. The problem is that India doesn"t care much for Kashmir. A country with one of the best armies in the world can"t hold on to it"s own territory can only mean one thing -- they don"t want that piece of land.
5	mohan on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 : Absolute non-event and non-starter, and unecessary scare. First of all India is not a Yugoslavia and K"shmir is not Kosovo. K"shmir is a bilateral issue involving Ind and Pak. Secondly, Pak ( and by extension, China with its ill-begotten Aksai Chin part of K"shmir ) will also not be happy with K"shmir being independent. It"s a bigger loss of face for Pak/China rather than for Ind. Inspite of Nehru and Nehru family"s monumental blunders, K"shmir stands firmly with India. Lastly, why will the west get into such a huge mess ?

2	Truth Speaks on Monday, March 03, 2008 : To overcome such threats, India has to transform itself as strong as China if not more. The only way India becomes strong is through Hindu unity. As long as Hindus are divided, the India will continue to be weak. Hindu unity is the need of the hour.
