I am a secular Hindu, you all are communal
India Forum: Comments, Opinion - Information Resource
News Summary: Today Secularism is the fashion in India. It is the “in” brand. It is the brand to give oneself, lest one be called “communal”. Many Hindus who are born in Hindu families, who carry the seeds of their Sanatana Dharma in their blood and their consciousness, have become ardent and vocal secularists. This article is addressed to the Secular Hindus, and is an effort to engage their minds, in the hope that some of them may be open to a fresh evaluation. First of all there are two kinds of Secular Hin.....read more in: I am a secular Hindu, you all are communal

Dear Sir, My HIndu friends ask:- "Are we to support a desert cult whose adherents should have all gone to fakistan, who are against Jews, Hindus, Women, Dalits, Xians...etc forever and ever - feeding, clothing and sheltering as open-ended commitment for this criminal burden of 1947? I am opposing the hate politics of those who consider us as their enemies and so, loot, kill...etc. Some of us may be upset, frustrated or indignant. That has nothing to do with hate as we are incapable of hate. I am for exposing the hate-mongers!!! Hope you understand. What we do and what we have done so far, has not worked. We cant expect different results doing the same thing over and over again, right? Pls dont misunderstand!! For muslims, religion always comes 1st. Most of them live in luxury after plundering Hindus for several colonial centuries not decades nor years. Most of them keep getting wealthier at your expense as you all get poorer and poorer. With secularism failing, we are dangerously unstable country with the commies in nexus with the islamic communalists. Solution is nearlly impossible with the islamic communalists. Solution is nearlly impossible unless you boycott.... Cricket and bollywood are a curse to India and Indians - full of gambling, wild dances, betting, racism, sucking our money into a few pockets, making the rich-poor divide even wider...boycott khan movies and cricket." It is obvious the anti-Indians cant adjust with Hindus and you cant put with their savage non-sense any more. You lose your immunity. You both have personality conflict. It has been bitter and resentful relationship that is unsustainable. You cant allow the sickening life with islamic criminals any more. Your happiness should come 1st. Now regarding bollywood khan, srk: Do you think it would be wise of anyone to tell their friends to give more to fill islamic pockets at this juncture? ...when people are dying in riots and serial blasts and with him diverting our attention, it is not entertaining or funny is it?!!! Anyways, what has he done that is significantly positive for the country?! Making people smoke ruining their health?! Or preaching to go astray cheating the spouse in wedlock?!!! Or linking up with the Mumbai underworld in sponsoring riots and serial blasts?!!!!!!!! Is this dude dominating the "political" and media scene grabbing all the attention usurping positions, encroaching into your "territory" or space (long after 1947 when all the muslims must have been sent to "fakistan") is in your long term interests?! Is it prudent to spend your hard earned money and valuable time on a morally questionable character?!

Secularism in India is Hindu bashing... otherwise, how can a govt. call itself secular and pay for people making religious trips? how can a govt. call itself secular and implement quotas based on religion? so Secularism in India is not really secular at all.
14 g kapuria on Sunday, February 24, 2008 :

Right.. we do not have secularists, only anti-Hindus.
13 R.Sharma on Sunday, February 24, 2008 :

So we all agree that we are not talking abour real Secularism, as the word means in English dictationary but a very corrupt Indian version of it, which is not secularism at all.
12 g kapuria on Saturday, February 23, 2008 :

Now we are talking.. we will never get anywhere without plain talk.
11 030201kishankb on Saturday, February 23, 2008 :

Very interesting self-serving analysis. Author in my opinion has failed to differentiate between those who practice hate and intolerance - be it people of book or caste dominated Hindus - and seculars who preach and practice equality based on basic fundamental human rights, equality for all and a political science that offers opportunities and a level playing field for all. Simply put it does not keep religion separated from politics, for example, I quote, "Development need not be moderated and regulated by the State. Power when concentrated in the hands of a few, ultimately corrupts people...." There are many more such statements that belong to a political science or a political philosophy and practices, which have very little to do with religion. People of the book be it Christians or Muslims, also make same mistakes and hence they cultivate a culture of hate and intolerance. In the name of God, Allah and religion both Christians and Muslims have committed atrocities against all those considered heathen by them. In the name of religion Hindus devised a caste system, which also is inherently discriminatory against women and lower castes. Those who believe in equality, fundamental personal rights and freedom to worship a set of beliefs that are most compatible with their inherent nature are in my opinion secular and they stand apart from people of the book and caste riddled Hindu belief system. Political science has now evolved to a point that it teaches separation of religion and state for effective governance. Those who are incapable of segregating religious beliefs from political aspirations follow a narrow and in my opinion flawed religious beliefs.
10 Guru Shubhada on Friday, February 22, 2008 :

Religion is a concept born at Paul"s time when Romans adopted as a tool to enslave the masses and with their help conquer distant lands and people. Re is Regal and Legion is just that an armed legion. Jesus Christ was Dharmic. He did not write bible. He was for individual emancipation/salvation. He was like an Indian Rishi. If secularism means separation of state and religion then even Ram Rajya was secular because their was no religion. State upheld the Dharma by which both king and masses ruled. Dharma is like a constitution. The purpose of Dharma is to help and create atmosphere so that all souls progress towards Moksha. But to achieve moksha which is the ultimate Dharma, one needs to follow Kama, Artha and Natural Law (dharma which is different from gen purpose term earlier used Dharma). So purpose of Indian constitution is same as Dharma. But is any one following? We are all taken for a ride by the media, politicians, Dhimmified Indians and half westernized gandu babus. It"s all big smoke screen for exploitation. Just be happy and take responsibility of your selves and the surrounding. They want you to discuss and fight among ourselves so that you do not come after them. The best tool is ignore and boycott their ideology, verbage and thinking.
9 R.Venkatanarayanan on Friday, February 22, 2008 :

Succinct presentation.Secularism in itself, if rightly understood, is a good principle of modern democratic governance. But it is utter nonsense to posit secularism is opposite of "Hindutva".The Article analyzes well the mind-set of Hindus who do not seriously study this vexed question and take the easy way out and safe by saying all religions are the same etc. Many "Gurus" commit this blunder, for the same reason.
8 g kapuria on Thursday, February 21, 2008 :

Kalyan... I hope you do not mind me saying this...if you want to make a better impact with your writing, which I hope you"d want, you should think about how you could write more clearly and concisely. Imagine you are on an elevator and the person you are talking with, is going up with you, about 10 floors. You have only that much time to say whatever you want to say. Force yourself to try to say your entire piece in the least amount of timem but making sure that your main points are said. We Hindus desparately need people like you to write, and write well.
7 S.Ghosh on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 :

Indian "secularism" is not securalism at all. Indians have no right to change the meaning of an English word. Indian "secularism" is a vote-bank politics, it is not "secularism". Most Hindus want real "secularism" as defined in the English dictionary not the Indian version.
6 Kalyan Viswanathan on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 :

Secularism in its original conception in Europe, did indeed represent the "separation" of the Church and the State. The rise of Secularism in Europe was a reaction to the Church"s power and control of the Government. So as Europe became more rational, along with the industrial revolution and th rise of reason, it underwent a reaction to the "Faith based" power of the Church, and therefore the original Secularism was born. There is no problem here. However, India"s version of the Secularism, has become an idealogically fragmented and politically expedient combination of the Marxist Left, Socialist Congress, Muslims (both liberal and fundamentalist) and Christians, and alienated Hindus (like Arjun Singh) who pit themselves as the bulwark against the rise of Hindu Communalism (or Fascism as Kapil Sibal called it recently on the wake Narendra Modi"s victory in Gujarat). In this divide between Secularism and Communalism, which has become the de-facto idealogical divide in India, many Hindus find themselves supporting and taking the "Secular" side. It is this "amorphous" Secularism of India which this article is concerned with - not the original concept of Secularism that arose in Europe. These amorphous Secualarists are everywhere - in the government, in the media, in the universities, in the public domain. They cannot even define their secularism, let alone defend it; but they go on screaming about it, with their loud mouths, and warning everyone about the rise of "communalism" in India. Thus "Loudness" of voice has displaced our reason - That is the concern of this article.
5 g kapuria on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 :

Secular Hindus are delusional. I challenge any secularist out there to debate me on any of their pet themes.
4 S.Ghosh on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 :

The 2nd Kind of secularists are not Hindus at all; they are either Muslims or pro-Muslims, pro-Christians. I have seen one article by Tista Shitalavad in the People"s Democracy [ mouthpiece of CPI(M)]that Shariat lawa are secular. Christians in Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal pradesh are expelling all Hindus but none of the English laguage newspapers say anything about that. The 1st kind of secualrists(?) are liberal Hindus but Hindus no doubt. It is possible for someone to accept Secularism ( means seperation of religion from the affiars of the state) and religious at the same time. Secularism is the ideal of the US Constitution; but the proponents of that constitution were religious Christians. Similarly there are many Hindus who are secular but Hindus. Secularism does not mean appeasement of the Muslims or Christians, as it is the case in India.
3 Vivek on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 :

"This ‘secularism’ did not subscribe to the dictionary meaning of the word but took on a totally different connotation in India, a corruption. It led to showering on the non-Hindu communities a set of privileges that could not be justified morally, economically, or legally. More importantly, it expected the Hindu to negate his own identity. Any attempt by the Hindu, however innocent, to assert his identity was dubbed reactionary and divisive." This is a quote from a new book: Lies, lies and More Lies. The Campaign to defame Hindu Nationalism (ISBN 0595435491).Available on Amazon that deals exhaustively with this topic. Follow this link: http://www.amazon.com/Lies-More-Campaign-Defame-Nationalism/dp/0595435491/
2 A.Moron on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 :

Most Hindus do not carry the seeds of Dharma in their blood. They have no Dharma at all,. They steal, they take bribes, they beat up innocent people, they kill, they rape: this is the reality. Look at our political leaders, most of our MPs have killed more than one person and have stolen at least One Crore of Rupees. They are from all parties even for the Hindu parties. What Dharma Bagaru Laxman, Jaya Jetley, DP Yadav, Arun Sourie, Jawswant Sinha, Bal Thakre, Raj Thakre have; are they Hindu or not? Never mind Mayawati, Lallu Yadav, Karunanidhi, Shard Pawar. 99 percent of the Hindus have never read Bhagwat Gita, Upanishad and Vedas. Most Hindus have never seen it. Just by putting some flowers to a stone made genital( Lingam) or on the feet of a starving cow one cannot follow Sanatan Dharma.
1 R.Sharma on Monday, February 18, 2008 :

The author suffers from the same defects which he is trying to attribute to others. Secularism means seperation of religion from the affairs of the state. It does not mean equal treatment of all religions or trying to equalise religion or athiest belief. It is not just Gandhi who said all regions leads to the same truth. It was said by Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Ram Krishna Paramhansa, Swami Vevikananda and most others saints before them ( Guru Nanak, Kabir, Sri Chaitanya, as well). Are they secularists? No at all. Marxism is not secular either. Karl Marx said, " Religion is the sigh of the oppressed, hear of the heartless world" Soviet Union has three approved religions( Christianity, Buddhisim and Islam), the state uned to pay salaries to the priests, maintain places of worships and has academies for trainning of the priests. Nehru was not secular, he has introduced Haj subsidy, treated Hindu refugees from Pakistan very badly but pampered both the Sikhs and the Muslims. India is not a secular country as there are different laws for people of different religions.
