4	030201kishankb on Feb-24 : g kapuria at 03:18 Today : There are many sources for increasing levels of carbon oxides in atmosphere. A reasonably good up to date information is available in many books including "Hot, Flat and Crowded" by Thomas Friedman (2008). I worked for living in energy business for 40+ years and one of my specialization was air pollution and so I have been very closely aware of the developing problem for last 40 years. Global warming is a reality and a process to reduce atmospheric CO2 levels by converting it to methane is a solution that can kill two birds with one stone. Initial experiments were with 100% CO2. Now they need to show that it is applicable to highly diluted (less than 1%) CO2 in air, and this is a tricky experiment. If it works them next step would be easy. I will keep my fingers crossed for success for this process.
3	g kapuria on Feb-24 : KKB..In the west, more and more countries are taken to burning idustrial waste and household garbage to carbon dioxide and dumping into sea. This practice is probably choking a lot of fish to death. They claim that deep sea carbon dioxide level is lower than that naturally dissolved in surface water, therefore, fish should be ok. But this is probably a bad argument, because the carbon dioxide level will be quite high where they are dumped. Cars are also a big source of it. If they are able to take this technology beyond the laboratory, carbon dioxide will no longer be a waste product. Global warming has many causes, but it might help some.
