News Summary: Bharat Ratna is the highest civilian award for national service. The order was established by Dr Rajendra Prasad, President of India, on January 2, 1954. Today, there are 41 Bharat Ratna winners in India, the last being Bhimsen Joshi. And yet, there are noticeable absentees. Mahatma Gandhi, the most conspicuous but since he was already elevated to the father of the nation, his posthumous soul automatically opted out of the race. 1	Dr. Ketan Patel on May-18 : Feedback sent to Author: National-awards:-Secular-Bharat-Ratna It seemed from the language that author might be anti-congress and pro-BJP! But my friends say same for me when I talk to them in political issues! Matter of fact is that it"s the truth that pours out of whole article without any commitment to any party. And I would appreciate author"s attempts to bring truth out. It"s just a Nationalism that is visible in his article and it"s purely appreciable. May be not awarding "bharat-ratna" to Sardar till 1991 was the biggest controversy with this award. And may be many nationalist will feel it"s bitterness for their lifetime same as me! Thanks for such a truthful article, sir. May be we need leading journalist like you and not so called "secularists"!!

We produce far too little goods in India. The consumer demand is so great that whatever crap is brought to the market, at whatever price, is sold.
