7 Mohan on Oct-30 :

Ghosh, thanks for the info/update.
6 S.Ghosh on Oct-30 :

Most of the victims of S.S.Roy were not Naxals, but members and supporters of other parties and ordinary people. Police took advantage of that by arresting just anyone and demanding bribes, otherwise the person will be killed or tortured in jail.
The same thing will happen in the Naxal infested areas. Innocent people will be arrested, and the real culprits will end up in New Delhi cafes.

5 Mohan on Oct-29 :

Ghosh, it"s old wine in new bottle, in a way. The naxals of 60s-70s were of intellectual type and less violent. No wonder many could not survive ( your note adds strength to this view ) unless they transformed into devils in daylight. Then came the 80s and the movement took a cheap and ugly turn, with support from various govts and NGOs and unknown organizations.
Now they are supari takers and henchmen for evangelists.

I"m glad that S.S. Roy showed some guts for his decisive action.
4 S.Ghosh on Oct-29 :

Correction:
Naxals of 1960s were mostly killed or spent many years in jails during 1970-77 rule of S.S.Roy in West Bengal ( 4000 were killed, 80,000 were in jail).

3 S.Ghosh on Oct-29 :

Mohan:

Naxals of 1960s were mostly killed or spent many years in jails during 1070-77 rule of S.S.Roy in West Bengal ( 400 killed, 80,000 were in jail).

Today"s Naxals are different. They had received money and weapons from NaraSimha Rao government, now Mamata Banerjee is providing money and weapons.
MM Singh refused to send central forces to West Bengal for the last two years. Naxals are active in only non-Congress rule states, West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh.

2 Mohan on Oct-29 :

We did not crush naxalism when it was in bud stage. Looking back in history that must be from 60s/70s. Even now it can be crushed but for these rogue
politicians.
1 A.Moron on Oct-29 :

Of Course the Queen bee of the Naxals is the Rly Minister mamata Banerjee.
With the help of Naxals and Jamait-E-Islami she has driven out Tata Motors from Singur and Mitsubishi Chemicals from Nandigram. Now she is creating lawlessness by killing only CPI(M) members in the forest areas.
MM Singh is tacitly supporting that by not sending the army but only a few battalions of central police force, who are in match for the Naxals.

g kapuria on Friday : I strongly disagree. Secularists are the biggest threat to India. They shelter the fundamentalist muslims and christians. Secularist newsmedia do not report their misdeeds, which gives goondas like Bal and Raj Thackeray a platform.

Yes, USA will praise India until the result of the big contract for $10 Billion to buy 126 fighter aircrafts for the Indian Air Force will be declared.
If the contracts will go to Russia ( highly unlikely) or UK-France ( more likely) India will be declared a country oppressing the Dalits, Muslims, untouchables, women, Jehovas witness, Shintos, ....
