1	chanakya on May-12 : you should add the french colony "THE REUNION ISLAND near Mauritius island to the list of countries where Hinduism is flourishing ...I can certify that local Hindus, inspite of intense brainwashing by French Chrsitian clergy, resisted total assimilation and saved Hinduism and now it is much stronger than what we can see in Tamil Nadu...thousand of temples were built in the backyard of Tamils" houses where they offered prayers secretly to Hindu Gods and Godesses when French colonisers prohibited Hinduism. we can see spectacular walk on the fire and kavadi etc.. Muruga, Ganesha, siva, Durgadevi, Draupadi, kali and Mariamman are the most venerated here..Mariamman,considered to be an avatar of Kali,is one of the favourite Gods to Tamil Hindus here. They are fervent Hindus and their Mariamman thalatu song a sort of lullaby for Mariamman (see translationon on the net)is really a national anthem which mentions that different kind of ornaments were brought from different parts of India as arms and jewels to be worn by the Godess...I was astonished that a even an ancient tamil prayer to a gramma Devethai reflects the cultural unity of India by stating that Kali is an embodiment of each and every part of the sacred land of Bharata.
