News Summary: The American economy is the crucial issue of the day; it is the talk of the nation. Day in and day out Obama used spacious language filled with caveats that warned of the nearing doom reminiscent of the Great Depression. Sure that language was purported to get the stimulus bill passed. But the analogy used was far fetched. If some one tags it as topsy- turvy economy I would go along. 2	Ashwin on Apr-05 : Yes recessions are part of the natural economic cycle and natural consequence of people "living beyond their means" and an adjustment to overspending. Cycles occur because of human behavior and human behavior is tied to psychology. So psychology of exuberance leads to unsustainable booms that correct with a the coming of a recession. And fear is a fuel that will lead to a deeper recession that over-corrects a boom. So public announcements that paint a picture of a historic collapse only feed panic and risk a large over-correction. And just like over-spending, any "over" action will lead to over-spilling that will ultimately be the source of another problem that needs to be cleaned up.
