News Summary: The Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry is ready to grant madrassah certificates, equivalent to those issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). This recommendation was made by the Justice Rajinder Sachar Committee, which was appointed by the ministry to review the status of minorities. These suggestions also find mention in the Prime Ministers 15-point programme for minorities. 2	Ravi on Mar-16 : Now that Madarassa education is declared to be equivalent to CBSC I wonder why students should do the very tough CBSC curriculum when just learning to read Koran in Arabic would get them admission to prestigious institutions like IIT or IIM !!
1	030201kishankb on Mar-07 : Interesting. Good overview of madrassahs in India. Also a good identification of curriculum used in these institutions. Emphasis of the article is to discourage passage of a pending educational bill, which it alleges to be politically motivated. Question is how to mainstream Muslims with madrassah brand education. In addition to suggested curriculum reforms there is a need to encourage Muslims to develop strategies to be mainstreamed.
